Our Annual Fall Fundraiser

Every Year we do a fall fundraiser to ensure that we can continue to make an impact and fulfill our mission to Inspire, Equip, and Revitalize our neighborhoods. This year we are excited to be partnering with Fairville Shooters to host our fundraiser event on October 21. Beyond the event, we will be highlighting our impact, our story, and collecting donations over the month of October.

GOAL: $12,950 / $20,000

This year we made our biggest impact yet. With more members than ever using more of our tools than ever, we are excited to see the sharing economy alive and well in Saint John. We are always inspired by the projects that our members tackle. From house renovations to beautiful creations. This grassroots activity is the backbone of our tool library.

When it comes to our Community Build, we supported First Steps INC. by rallying 50 of our volunteers and painting 12 rooms for the women that stay at their building with their children. We trained dozens of people through our Sawhorse program and are continuing to help people get connected to work. It’s also been amazing to see 4 different businesses (Kakuteru hidden cocktail bar, Haven Music Hall, Elevate Studio, and Decimal 81) renovated or constructed using our tools.

Tool Libraries like ours bring people together. They inspire community and we are certainly seeing the effects of a participatory culture in SJ.

Reconciliation in Action!

Chi Mokaman came to our centre back in May of 2022. He is a residential school survivor who has lived a difficult life. Our workshop quickly became a type of sanctuary for him as he practices his incredile art of carving. Watch the CBC video below to learn more and donate to help us continue to be there for people like Chi!

I often get asked WHY I wanted to volunteer with the Tool Library. It’s pretty simple- the values of the Tool Library: sharing, supporting and creating match up perfectly with my own set of values. I am a person who believes that helping others and giving them the tools (pardon the pun), they need to help them succeed in life is the best way to build a stronger and more vibrant community. By offering a program like the Sawhorse program or providing a space for people for hands-on learning we are here to support people and provide them with guidance along the way.

Our goal this year is to raise $20,000+ to help us tackle new opportunities to partner with organizations, people, and our indigenous & newcomer neighbors to ensure our mission of revitalization can be accessed by as many as possible. Throughout October we will be highlighting our new sponsors and highlighting the videos of a few people who have benefited from our tool library.
